Petition update

[UPDATE] Legislation has been adopted

Lutz Krebs
Maastricht, Netherlands

Apr 4, 2017 — Dear petitioners —

Unfortunately, the amendment has been adopted today with 123 yea versus 38 nays. As reported over the weekend, the Hungarian government had placed the amendment in a fast-track procedure, which entails a three-hour debate held yesterday, and the immediate vote today.

In an effort to make your voices heard, we delivered the petition with over 30'000 signatures from 135 countries to the speaker of the Hungarian National Assembly, prime minister Orbán and minister Balog yesterday morning.

As the adoption of the amendment has made the threat to CEU's continued operation in Hungary even more acute, we will keep the petition open and will add additional decision makers at the international level as recipients.

Many thanks for supporting CEU! Please keep sharing the petition, and check https://www.ceu.edu/istandwithceu as well as the Facebook group https://www.facebook.com/istandwithceu/ for news and additional steps to take.

With kind regards,
Lutz Krebs
