After nearly two years of being closed as an unused ‘covid hub’ our cottage hospital is still closed. This is an absolutely vital resource to the local community especially our elderly residents who are being forced to spend long periods in Dumfries hospital over an hour away from friends and relatives. Hospice care is being put under extra pressure as Newton Stewart Hospital provided palliative care also. It’s time Newton Stewart Hospital was reopened! We ask that Humza Yousaf give a time scale for reopening and reassurances that the hospital will definitely reopen.
