People nowadays are consumed by modern technology, many machines and mechanisms have been invented in making our lives much easier. But most of the machines that are used today are run on fossil fuels and burning of these fuels can lead to the creation of many dangerous gases that can harm humans and our planet. Furthermore, the trees and resources of our planet are starting to decrease in numbers due to the modernization of our world.
In the Philippines same as in other countries, most of the forests are being destroyed in order to construct subdivisions, malls, roads, and many more infrastructures. Mountains are being drilled to build tunnels or collect precious jewels such as gold, diamonds, and more. But what happens when typhoons arrive, landslides will occur due to the loss of trees, floods will rise why? because there are not enough trees to sip the rainwater. Some countries are now experiencing desertification due to the large number of forests that have been destroyed.
"Today, just 4 billion hectares are left. The world has lost 33% of its woodland – a region two times the size of the United States. Just 10% of this was lost in the primary portion of this period, until 5,000 years prior" ( Ritchie H. April 2021). If we don't act now future generations will have to suffer from our mistakes. It's not too late to do the right thing, we should double planting tree planting campaigns, serve the environment, conduct fundraisers to conserve the things we have left, and preserve the forests, the seas, and especially the earth.
