Stop Animal Testing
This petition had 696 supporters
Each year an estimated 26 million animals are used for scientific and commercial testing in the United States alone. While animal testing has contributed to many life-saving cures and treatments, our society has now discovered alternative testing methods that exist in order to replace the need for animals. For example, testing in vitro cell cultures in a petri dish can produce more relevant results than animal testing because human cells can be used. Also, virtual reconstructions of human molecular structures can predict the toxicity of substances without invasive experiments on animals. Alternative methods are actually much cheaper and therefore animal tests are a waste of government research dollars. Another reason to stop animal testing is that drugs that pass animal tests are not necessarily safe. Please sign this petition to stop animal testing.
