Julianna Rossi started this petition to Human Rights Campaign and

Each year, 96 out of 100,000 black males are killed by police, most are unarmed. People of color are three times more likely to be killed by police than white people and 1.3 times more likely to be unarmed. Eight out of 100 of the largest city police departments have a  rate of black police-related deaths higher than the U.S murder rate. The levels of violent crimes in U.S cities do not determine the rates of police violence. 99% of killing by police from 2013 to 2019 have resulted in officers being charged. (Mappingpoliceviolence.org).

A decade ago, the Department of Justice stopped collecting data on deaths tied to police violence because the numbers were unreliable (PBS.org). The data above is under counted by  researchers because many cases go unreported. If there was a law that forced police precincts to report all police related violence there would be better and more reliable research. By forcing this change, it will lead to rectitude within the police force and justice for victims of police brutality. We need this law because it will encourage better and safer law enforcement encounters within the black community. It will create more equality and less discrimination.

We need this change and we need it now in order to start to protect our brothers and sisters.
