Hold South African authorities responsible for the demolishing of shacks during Covid-19
Why this petition matters
Many stories have been coming out about the incredible injustice that the vulnerable citizens of South Africa are facing. Namhla Soloman (29) is just one of them. She is a student and a mother of four children. Not only did they destroy her home but the local authorities took everything she had, including her textbooks and furniture. She has been forced to live with her neighbours which makes social distancing impossible. So many of us are so privileged that we don't have to worry that our homes will be stripped away from us during these uncertain times of Corona and Lockdown and we need to do everything we can to help our fellow South Africans. This is a gross human rights violation and the government (local and national) needs be held accountable for creating further vulnerability in the already fragile South African communities.
"I want my stuff back, I want my freedom back" -Namhla Soloman
