Boots the chemist has just announced that they are to charge a £5 fee for home delivery of a prescription in todays press they have said quote "Boots recently launched an online prescription service, which includes free delivery for all patients. BUT patients who wish to continue to have their prescription delivered from the store, rather than the online service will now be charged" the company said patients can pay a one-off fee of £5 for delivery or subscribe to 12 months of deliveries for £55.this I feel discriminates against the people who either cannot afford or do not own a smartphone/internet or has the technical ability to use such whilst those that can will get FREE delivery.I have approached Boots customer services to raise these points and question this decision and there answer was that it was cheaper to post out prescriptions from a central warehouse than use individual couriers, I do see the point in that response but sadly they would not agree with me about a case of discrimination against the hundreds of thousands of disabled and disadvantaged people of all ages who do not have internet access for many different reasons, so please sign my petition to get this anomaly addressed as I know of many people who are going to be severely disadvantaged by this decision by Boots the Chemist.
