Stop naming mass murderers in mass media

Orlando USA prompted this submission.
There are many and complex reasons for an individual to take the step of killing others on mass. But one aspect is the public "anti-HERO" status they are afforded by naming them. In previous centuries with small media and small villages - naming and shaming may have worked wonders.
However we are in a new millennium that calls for new approaches. Like we called the "King Hit" a "COWARD's punch" in Australian media, we need to change our language. Yes the police, courts, security forces, social researchers etc. all need to know the murder's name. But do we? My answer is NO.
I want us to know the names of those who died to honour their lives, not reinforce the murderer's name by giving them a place in history and thus immortality.
Please join in asking mass media organisations to observe this NO NAME 4 MASS MURDERERS protocol by signing this petition and circulating this with your family and friends.
