Hudson residents are AGAINST the townhouse development proposal for zoning district D3. The proposal is an overdevelopment of very large townhouses. We believe this is a profit-driven proposal that does not take the concerns of other residents already in this neighborhood into consideration. Some concerns are as follows:
- The proposal is for these townhouses to be placed right next to many single family homes making a huge change in housing density for the neighborhood; many residents will lose privacy in their backyards that they have had for decades and instead will be staring at a large mega townhouse complex or privacy fence.
- The forest area will disappear along with the habitat for many animals.
- More traffic on Barlow Road will create an even more dangerous situation because many vehicles do not observe the speed limit and a large number of children play and ride bikes in the neighborhood, many of them crossing Barlow Road to get to the park.
- The townhouses are huge (2,700 square feet each) and are packed into a tight geographic area.
- Other environmental concerns are storm water management, the affects on our well systems, and the loss of mature trees which affects climate change.
- The loss of our neighborhood's culture and character. Our housing lots are spaced out with mature trees, and the now the first thing people will see when they drive into our neighborhood will a mega townhouse complex crammed next to rows of single family homes.
