Improve Europe's UAS Prototype Rule

This petition had 6,733 supporters

The EU's European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) recently drafted the UAS Prototype Rule, which harshly targets the (DIY) drone community. In short, the rule would destroy Europe's recreational drone market, by prohibiting the majority of custom assembled drones. Major manufacturers and corporations would benefit, while startups and small businesses would fight to survive. Innovation and creativity would be stifled. Not to mention, Drone Racing may cease to exist in Europe.

Additionally, the UK will not be exempt! The rule takes affect before the UK will leave the EU.

Please view the links, listed here, for more information: Drone Insider EASA.

How does the UAS Prototype Rule affect you:

1. DIY aircraft restricted at 250g and lower.

2. DIY aircraft max speed of less than 54km/h.

3. DIY aircraft must remain within 100m of pilot.

4. DIY aircraft limited to max height of 50m.

For all but #4, the recreational drone community, especially FPV Racing, currently violates EASA's UAS Prototype Rule.

What can you do?

Please support our petition to help EASA realize the damage that the UAS Prototype Rule would inflict to the growing drone industry. We need to promote personally innovation and creativity, not hinder it with regulations.

SHARE on social media and get your friends to support the petition!

You may also email the EASA directly, at, to express your concerns. We recommend that your argument is tied to how the regulations will impact the drone industry and the future European economy.

IDRA will do the same in working with the EASA to improve the regulations. The more support to this petition, we have a higher chance of succeeding.
