from a young age we are told to cover up. our bodies are too distracting. the school dress code teaches boys it is ok to sexualize women. “our bodies are inappropriate dangerous, violable, subject to constant scrutiny and judgment, including by the adults they trust. nor does it help with them understand the culture’s role in their wardrobe choices” no clothing that contours the body is allowed, no sweat pants, joggers, no off the shoulder tops, shirts that show any amount of stomach, bra straps or fringes in jeans. this makes it extremely difficult for any girl to find clothing that perfectly fits the dress code. we are no longer hiding from the fear of being humiliated by our peers it is 2021 and it is time to make a change. teach boys to keep it in their pants and that we aren’t pieces of meat that need to cover up to keep them from wanting to do things to us.
