Erica Lee started this petition to Hoyer for Congress

Steny Hoyer has been in Congress since 1981.

That is 40 years.

In 2020, he refused to debate his primary opponent, Mckayla Wilkes, a Black activist from within the district.

He argued he sees constituents in the grocery store, so he doesn’t need to debate.

However, last year, he spoke at the University of Maryland commencement ceremony where he’s invited to speak to inspire young graduates to do good in the world. However, that doesn’t mean he wants young people and especially young People of Color to challenge him for a seat he’s held for 40 years. He won’t acknowledge their challenge or concerns with his time, time he could use to defend his 40-year career.

This is hypocritical.

Octogenarians in Congress don’t believe anyone else can do their jobs, and they also know how difficult it is for a constituent to challenge an entrenched incumbent. Hoyer doesn’t care.

Please sign this petition to let Hoyer know it’s TIME to RETIRE.
