So when quarantine happened, we had online school. Instead of using Zoom, we started using Microsoft Teams. Not all people have phones or shared their phone number, so many people made dozens of group chats with friends on Teams. Thats how people kept in contact with friends and make plans with them so they wouldnt feel lonely. In September, the Houston Independent School District (HISD) administrator removed the chat. Why would you people do that? People couldnt talk with their friends anymore. People couldnt study together and help each other out. People couldnt communicate anymore. I know a lot of people that were angry and sad because of this. Because of this, friends stopped talking to friends and eventually forgot about them. Imagine being in quarantine, with stressful school, and no one to talk to? Its a sad life. I know a friend who had a panic attack because she had no one to talk to anymore and her life is stressful. Good thing I still talk to her. But anyway, the point is, in order to keep friendships, you obviously need to keep talking to them. Otherwise they'll forget you and next time you see them it'll be awkward and strange and you'll never get the bond you had with the person back again. So please, HISD, for the mental health of your students, bring the chat back, so people can stay in touch.
