In 2015, EcoHub won an extensive 2-year international qualification and bid process to bring world leading waste-free™ One Bin technology to Houston to recycle 95% of the city-collected waste. EcoHub offered this service for less than the cost of putting the material in the landfill.
Compared with the business-as-usual recycling, EcoHub would have saved Houston taxpayers $25 to $40 million per year, enough to pay the firefighters a competitive wage.
EcoHub believes in a Waste-Free Houston, a Waste-Free America, and a Waste-Free World, where discarded materials are repurposed into consumer products and renewable energy, employing tens of thousands of local workers and generating billions of dollars of local economic activity.
Unfortunately, Houston’s incoming Mayor Turner and his COO, Harry Hayes—for reasons that have yet to be revealed—chose not to take advantage of the economic and environmental benefits of EcoHub’s One Bin approach.
Instead--as proven by the recently released emails by the City of Houston described in the video above--Turner and Hayes—against the recommendations of the City’s top development staff—created a rigged proposal to continue the failed recycling program EcoHub was designed to replace, while purposely excluding EcoHub’s guaranteed approach that recycles 7 to 9 times as much material for a price that’s at least 70% lower.
It's time for a 21st century solution.
