Who we are and what we want

We are tenants of social housing across London and regarding the recent overpayment of Thames Water charges challenged through Southwark Council in 2016, we demand the following:

1. To put the burden of responsibility for refunding residents on council sand relevant housing associations, not on residents having to seek out information, make claims and undertake further administrative work.
2. A clear and transparent breakdown of how much residents have been overcharged for the water usage due to both the councils and all relevant housing associations in all boroughs acting as water ‘agents’ rather than ‘resellers’ over the full relevant period residents were overcharged.
3. To make aware, all tenants, current and former, of council and housing association managed housing, via post, for residents who are not comfortable using the internet, what refunds they are due, when it will be paid to them.
4. To know that all relevant housing associations in the borough are being held accountable to pay residents the full amount of what they are due over the full relevant period they were overcharged and how they are being held accountable to this.
5. To know if councils and the relevant housing association are including interest in their calculations for refunds to residents.
6. To know if the single occupancy discount is being applied to the refund to residents who would have been eligible for this if they were paying Thames Water directly over the relevant period.
7. To provide the option of receiving the refund as a bank deposit or cheque rather than solely through credit on their account.

How?

We are building our group and our campaign through Community Organising.
