PETITION TO URGE THE SENATE AND THE CONGRESS OF THE PHILIPPINES TO REPEAL THE ANTI-TERROR LAW

Human Rights are values inseparable to mankind. As declared by the United Nations, they are:
1.) Universal and inalienable;

2.) Interdependent and indivisible; and

3.) Equal and non-discriminatory.

The concept of human rights have long governed society in general, dating beyond several generations before ours. However, several elements adamantly impede the very value and progression of human rights despite being encoded in the 1987 Philippine Constitution. Article III, the Bill of Rights, includes 22 sections declaring the rights of every Filipino citizen.

July 03, 2020 — Philippine President, Rodrigo Duterte, officially signed the unconstitutional Anti-Terror Bill, a retort to amend the Human Security Act of 2007. A declaration entailing the Philippine government debasing and officially forsaking the human rights of every sovereign Filipino.

The rhetoric of democracy, which should be advanced by our legislators, have been ridiculed —inaptly in the time of a pandemic, too. We do believe, however, that many are in line with our unity to call for the Senate and the Congress to repeal the Anti-Terror Law. Herewith is a petition to urge the Senate of the Philippines and the Philippine Congress to repeal the Anti-Terrorism Act of 2020.

The extent of our voices and actions echo through many generations affecting not only the youth but people of different sectors, too. Join us as we struggle for democracy. Join us as we #ResistAsOne!
