Northumbria Police Force covered up abuse of the elderly and pressurised Northumberland County Hall not to pursue taking action against one of their staff (police civilian). 

The former Independent Police Complaints Commission (now renamed) claimed it had to believe a policeman ("independent!"). Northumbria Police Force "lost" evidence collected and lied despite ambulance records contradicting officers' statements.

Individuals were threatened at the funeral of one of the elderly people abused by those responsible who claimed the police would "do" anyone reporting them.

A will made in favour of the "financial, emotional and physical abuser of the couple" (the words of the in investigating social services officer about the culprit) has worrying elements and Northumbria Police Force lied about investigating the details. Incidents where threats and racial comments were made about children were and are still ignored by Northumbria Police Force.

Northumberland County Hall has apologised "unreservedly" for allowing the abuse to continue.

Police complaints and the police force must be brought to account.
