Lewis Saunders started this petition to House of Commons and

Petitions Matter are a small scale Pressure Group raising awareness and emphasising the major importance of (E) Petitions.

Our Aims:
- Educate the general public of the large importance of petitions
- Increase the importance of an (E)Petition
- Ensure all petitions signed by 250,000+ individuals are debated in parliament
- To represent all members of the general public (minority - majority)

Petitions ensure all members of the general public have their say in situations that they strongly believe in. Those with a passion to change certain policies, laws and ideas can join a petition alongside various other individuals with similar views.

UK Government and Parliament claim that out of the variety of petitions sent to parliament,
425 have received a response from the Government and only 71 of these petitions were debated in the House of Commons.

“If a petition gets 10,000 signatures, the government will respond”

“If a petition gets 100,000 signatures, it will be CONSIDERED for debate in Parliament”

We want to ensure that all petitions with 250,000+ signatures will be debated in Parliament.
Some may argue that 250,000 is not even 1% or the general population of Britain being 660,000. However, here at ‘Petitions Matter’ we will ensure all members have their right to speak, minority and majority.

Petitions give ALL members a valid say in something that they have a strong belief for. This includes those who are not yet considered for voting such as the population of under 18’s whose opinions are as valid as the rest of the population.
