Parents with newborn’s can be a huge change to lifestyle, adding another child is super stressful to working, single, and new parents.

The current situation is that cesarean born children parents have the same amount of leave as natural born babies, this can take a huge toll on new mothers/fathers/parents as the patient usually cannot drive safety until around 6 weeks and will be told not to exercise or lift anything for possibly longer. This leaves the new parent unable to get around for 4 weeks until they are cleared to drive.

Update*
I have gotten a lot of response for complicated vagibal births also. The risks of natural births are also high and most definitely would be beneficial to a partner staying home for longer and helping out.

Not only can the mother have physical injuries this also includes mental injuries like postpartum depression, the likelihood of a mother who has had a complicated natural birth or c section is at much higher risk to have psychological pain also.

I myself am writing this petition as I’m on my last week of parental leave with our second child (first born is almost 2) and my wife is getting anxious about having to battle a headstrong toddler and a newborn without being able to drive and lift anything heavier than the newborn.
