Why this petition matters

Started by Lizvet Jimenez

There are too many black women dying before they meet their new born children due to hospital staff negligence. Black women are FIVE times more likely to die during pregnancy, right after birth and postpartum as opposed to a white woman. It is happening so often that Black Maternal Health Week is recognized by the CDC and people around the world every year in April.  In July 2020 a 26 year black woman died during her C-Section. Pregnancy is such a beautiful time in a woman's life it should not be met with fear of death just because of your skin color. I am making this petition to help make the change in hospitals so that women of color aren't afraid to give birth because of medical negligence and have both mom and baby safe after birth.
