GWYN'S LIST
My father was diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease in October 2020, he sadly lost his brave fight with the disease on March 6th 2022.
During our time on this horrific journey with him we were able to pick up on certain failings in various areas of his care , the right questions were never asked, the treatment wasn't correct , people including some medical proffesionals had no idea what medical equipment he needed, i.e cough assist machine , breathing machine , nebulizer, ripple bed . It was down to my mother to use these as needed during a hospifal stay as the staff had no idea and weren't even sure what they were. Imagine during covid 19 where you couldn't take anyone in with you. The outcome would be awful . Before we could get to him in a& e once when he had a chest infection ,his oxygen ran out and bear in mind his mobility was now really affected, somehow he managed to get a nurses attention and they came running in. Imagine not being able to breathe and depending on other people to make sure you can. This is simply not good enough. As a family we want to make a simple checklist for all medical areas so that they are aware of the different care needed for M.N.D patients , please help us bring in GWYN' LIST
