At Horseheads High School students are being sexualized by the unfair dress code. Although masculine students have been dress coded, feminine students are targeted more often. There needs to be changed as this is disgusting and unfair. Maybe instead of dress coding minors for showing “too much cleavage” you should teach your children and staff members not to sexualize children. In fact it seems the only people that students clothes are bothering are the staff members. The staff members who agree with students that this is unfair unfortunately can not do anything about it. So this petition is being started, please sign it if you want to see change in the schools dress code. If the petition gets enough signatures it will be sent to the school board to show that students want change, we want to feel comfortable in school and not have to worry about adult staff members sexualizing us. When we come to school we want to be comfortable, especially when it is 75 plus degrees in most areas of the school. Let’s make this clear, students are not against dress codes, we are against the unfairness and sexualization of students that comes with it.
