Horizon Community College has made the decision to only allow its pupils to use the heartspace toilets. This will be before school, at break and lunch, and during lesson changeover. The other school toilets will now be locked. 

This is extremely harmful to all students, regardless of their gender, faith, sexuality, race or ethnicity. Teachers are now less likely to allow a student to leave lesson and access these toilets, which is not only unfair but will cause many problems. 

People who experience periods will also suffer. Period products should be changed regularly and not allowing students to access toilets will not only make this more difficult to do but also more awkward. 

We’d like the school to remove this rule by letting students use all of the toilets around college, but also not during a certain period of time. 

Only allowing students to use the toilets during break and lunch will create a queue for the toilets if they only give us access to the bottom floor heartspace toilets. 

As of August 2020, there are 1972 students attending Horizon Community College. This huge amount of people using the same toilets will cause a blockage as many students will be wanting to use these toilets at the same time, which surely the school will want to avoid, as they recently implemented the use of the one way system.
