0 have signed. Let’s get to 7,500!
Mr Harry Gregg from Coleraine Northern Ireland signed for Manchester United in October 1957 from Doncaster Rovers for a fee off £23,000. On 6th February 1958 his life was to change Manchester United were on there way back from Belgrade Yugoslavia when the plane had to stop in Munich for a refuel after refuelling the plane made three attempts to take off when on the third attempt disaster struck. Mr Gregg survived the crash he managed to free himself and to help fellow passengers by pulling them to safety of the burning plane he also pulled a baby an her mother from the wreckage he was praised for his heroics (for which he plays down). Amazingly Harry was back in action within 2 weeks in a fa cup tie for Manchester United as the club defeated Sheffield Wednesday 3-0. Then 4 months later this amazing man was voted best goalkeeper in the World Cup after starring for Northern Ireland at the world cup finals in Sweden. Harry Gregg has now also got a foundation set up in his name he likes to promote alot of grass roots football. The Harry Gregg Foundation youth league aims to provide a framework for youth football. Which will promote player development, community cohesion and participation in healthy recreation. Which in turn promotes good citizenship and also enables young people to grow to full maturity as individuals and members of society. I think Harry should not only get a knighthood just for what he done in Munich but also his contribution for grassroots football and also are youth of today
