The World famous Ratha yatra is an age old culture and tradition of Hindus celebrated each year in Puri Jagannath temple along with other temples located worldwide. This is a festival where the dieties Lord Jagannath, Lord Balabhadra and Lord subhadra come in chariots giving a chance to all devotee to see and worship. The chariots are pulled by gathered public on the grand road to a distance of 3km to reach gundicha temple.

In this year 2020 the situation is different because of pandemic COVID-19. Still permission was obtained from the government to build the three  chariots and all cultural practices were managed through out the days while obeying all the guidelines issued by government for COVID-19. All the servers of Lord working day and night for the cart were also tested for COVID-19 for ensuring safety.

Now at this stage stay order on annual rath yatra by supreme court is never a good solution. The statement breaks religious beliefs and creates negative emotions among billions of devotees of the lord across the world. It will result in depressing state of mind for many and ruin the trust and religious beliefs.

During the pandemic many religious festivals including Eid-ul-fitr have been celebrated while obeying COVID-19 guidelines. Likely the world famous Rath Yatra can be permitted where the chariots will be pulled by police personal or the servers of the lord while maintaining social distancing and with preventive personal protections. Curfew in the city may be implemented in advance and the citizens may be informed by announcement regarding the same. Live telecast of the yatra by the doordarshan can be arranged. We request the honourable supreme court of india to kindly judge the issue again and permit rath Yates 2020 in puri with alternative arrangements as discussed above.
