March Unite For Climate Uganda

Climate change is real and it is happening right now. Scientists all over the world agree to this. The carbon levels are at the highest they have ever been.

Addressing the challenges of climate change is very important because it is an open window for sustainable economic and social development of Uganda as a country.

We have experienced rising temperatures in various parts of the country. There has been an increase in the frequency of hot days, very long droughts. These have led to various consequences for example death of cattle.

Our country mainly relies on natural resources. This makes the economy very vulnerable to the impact of climate change. Droughts have affected water resources, agricultural production among others.

Major impact of climate change in Uganda has been seen in terms of heavy rains, flooding, landslides, drought plus disease outbreaks.

Uganda can not afford to choose between addressing climate change and promoting development because the two are interlinked.

We as a nation can come up with mitigation strategies for a sustainable future.

Thank you
