Built in the year of 1703,during the rule of Ahom Swargadeo Rudra Singha,in the district of Sivasagar of Assam,NAMDANG STONE BRIDGE has been serving the mankind for last 312 years on National Highway 37 ( New 715).Being a mark of glory,it connects the nation with three most revenue earning districts of India(Sivasagar,Dibrugarh,Tinsukia respectively).The stone bridge has been built without using steel and cement.Instead of cement mortar, a mixture of various biotic components like duck eggs,pulses,bora rice,jaggery,etc had been used. . Namdang Stone Bridge is a living witness of historic Yandabo Treaty(1826), World War II and of independent India. . Symbolising the most modern philosophy of connectivity of Ahom Kingdom,the stone bridge is placed next to historic 'Rameswaram Setu' by Google in India. . Displaying architectural wonder,it is designed with about six tunnels to facilitate the river water of Namdang. . A Stone Bridge,demonstrating the rich unique culture as well as the advanced mindset of the Ahom rulers should be declared as a National Heritage Site,as an attempt to preserve and promote its historical,cultural and architectural significance.
