Hi everyone,

I’m sure many of us have been frustrated at the decrease of services offered by the Equine Health and Performance Centre. While we understand that COVID has resulted in budget cuts to the university, the reduction in funding at the EHPC has reduced disproportionately. We do not believe this is the desire of the staff, clients, students or local veterinarians. Therefore, we have written a letter which will be addressed to key leaders of the University. This letter has been written after interviews with multiple parties to gain a complete picture of the entire situation. The letter contains 4 key recommendations:

1. Combined review of the current EHPC by all affected members including students, staff and university leadership
2. Sustained financial commitment to the EHPC by the University and seeking of additional financial sponsorship 
3. Commitment and aid from the university in filling the current veterinary and support positions being offered 
4. Restoration of services including first opinion, emergency, after hours, intensive care services, internship programs and student placements

We are now seeking students, staff, clients and other veterinarians to be co-signatories on this letter. Hopefully, by banding together we can create a more sustainable EHPC for all parties. �
