April 8 2019: The recent breakout of measles has been detrimental to the population of BC, all due to vaccine hesitancy. BC’s last measles outbreak in 2014 had over 300 reported cases, with this year’s outbreak expected to be higher. Currently the measles has spread over to Fraser Valley, reaching more of the population.

The quick spreading of measles across B.C is concerning, especially with many pockets of anti-vaccinators. To protect B.C and all its citizens, we propose to create a law, making vaccination mandatory for all healthy and able people.

Specifically, a person must be vaccinated within 6 months or risk losing their B.C Services Card, along with all of its benefits, until they’re vaccinated. This would not apply to a person whose been out of the province for more than 6 months, or a person who is physically unable.

With more reasons for citizens to vaccinate, there will be a less of a risk of pockets of anti-vaccinators. This petition will help to shed awareness on this issue and hopefully implement this law.

This petition urges the Government of B.C, through Honorable Adrian Dix, Minister of Health, to push a new law that'll enforce mandatory vaccines. The program will:

Protect all children, elderly, and immune-compromised people who are unable to vaccinate.
Prevent further spreading of the measles, especially in schools where outbreaks tend to begin.
Prevent any future measles outbreaks from occurring.
