Dolores O’Riordan was a totally underrated musician in my opinion. There are certain songs out there like Bohemian Rapsody that break barriers with the listeners and give you a feeling in your chest that others can’t. Zombie by the Cranberries is one of those, Dolores’ vocals along with the great bass guitar just hit me like a lightning bolt in a good way. I was born in the same year as Dolores and I would love to sculpt a life size bronze sculpture of her so that all her fans could visit it and pay there respects and take photos. There are many sculptures of men in Dublin but woman are seriously unrepresented. Surely it’s time to address the balance and honour a true great Irish influential musician, mother ,sister and daughter . My wife is a musician and the first song I saw her perform live was Zombie back in 2012 so I feel I have a deep connection with Dolores and that it is fate that I should be involved with this project.

           With the damage that COVID has had on the live music scene and the world how it used to be ,surely now is a great time to have a positive cause like this. I would ideally like to make an outdoor sculpture of Dolores on stage singing with her guitar, but I think there is scope to have a competition for sculptors to enter and the wining pieces would also be included in the monument to capture different periods of her life. I would obviously want Dolores’ family and the band involved with the project and to have the final say and full approval.

     Music means so much to me , I believe that listening to music everyday makes my life much more enjoyable than if I don’t. I couldn’t think of a better way to honour a true Irish legend than using my sculpting and casting  skills for this great cause.
