Why this petition matters

This year's Dragon Dreaming Festival on Wiradjuri Country brought about a particular concern towards how organisations hold space for our Elders & Traditional Owners at most festival events.

Mob that Welcomed us to their Country where not provided with the same accomodation as artists and staff. Aunties & Uncles and their children had their own set up among the festival goers, proudly representing the Aboriginal flag & a few art pieces for sale... unbeknown to most walking past.

Dragon 'Dreaming', I ask that next year collectively we all sow the seeds to emphasise respect for our Elders. We ask that whilst you accommodate workshops and performances, you prioritise caring for Country which means caring for its Peoples.

Having a dedicated, immersive space for Mob means that the community can connect through these yarns and stories and revisit their connections throughout their time on Wiradjuri Country.
