This petition strongly supports and advocates for the use of face masks in all public places in Deland, Florida. Science clearly demonstrates the effectiveness of properly using face masks to reduce the transmission probability of COVID-19 and community spread. The protection of public health, particularly for vulnerable populations, is imperative and combatting the COVID-19 pandemic is a collective responsibility. The city of DeLand should mandate all citizens to wear face masks in public to impede and prevent the spread of the virus. This petition recommends that Mayor Apgar and DeLand public officials mandate the use of widespread face masks in public spaces.
