Year 9 Experience is an ongoing project in our school for us students to make a difference on a topic we are passionate about. Our group is called Behind the Bars and we would like to make a difference about Hong Kong housing disparities. As a small city with an extremely dense population, Hong Kong cannot afford houses for everyone. With already a wait list of over 100,000 people for public housing and approximately 15,000 flats made per year, people are still forced to either sleep on the streets or in tiny cage homes. We aim to confront the Hong Kong government about this important issue. We understand we may not be able to make a huge change to such a serious and significant topic, though we aim to initiate a change and possibly suggest some solutions for these residents to have a better life.
