Fix Hervey Bay Hospital Crisis

Fix Hervey Bay Hospital Crisis
Hervey Bay Hospital is in crisis! The doctors and nurses are trying their best but there aren't enough beds or staff and there are more and more stories about patients being sent home from hospital without being fixed, or fasting for days for operations that keep being cancelled. The hospital just isn't big enough - so many people have moved to Hervey Bay, the population is booming (just look at the rental market!) and the hospital isn't coping.
How come there is a whole big empty floor above the ED when the hospital is overflowing and having Code Yellows because there aren't enough beds? We need the state government to give us funding for beds in this empty floor urgently.
And now we have just found out that our ICU has lost level 5 services and 70 % of the ICU patients who used to get treated here are now being flown out! The courier mail reported in reality we have a level 5 ICU but it's being called a level 4 by WBHHS so that Bundy can get the level 5 ICU there. That's just not fair on our community. The sickest patients should be in hospital not in a plane! It's dangerous for them and it's not fair on their families who have to drive hours to sit by their bedside or might not even be there if they die. We can't afford to lose services in our ICU because if COVID comes to Hervey Bay, it would be a disaster.
I am calling on Yvette D'Arth and Adrian Tantari to fund building wards in the empty 2nd floor and insist that WBHHS make our ICU a level 5 so patients in Hervey Bay can have their healthcare in their local hospital.
