Currently Same-Sex Couples DO NOT have the freedom to Marry the person they love in Australia.
As a resident on the Electrol Roll for Lalor I believe this issue needs to be addressed with Ms Gillard to gain her support in the stop against the discrimination faced by Same-Sex Couples and denying them the option of Marriage.
I have a Same-Sex female partner and an 8 year old son who are my family. I would love the opportunity to legally Marry my partner in Australia.
By denying Same-Sex couples the choice to Marry we are sending out a message that it's ok to discriminate on the ground of Sexual Orientation and gender, and that Same-Sex Couples are not capable of the level of Love and Commitment associated with Marriage.
Marriage provides health and well-being benefits and security for partners and their children, where they are currently excluded.
I want to provide my son with the same rights, respect and recognition as other children have.
I ask residents who reside in the LALOR district to please support Marriage Equality by signing this petition and share with us WHY MARRIAGE EQUALITY IS IMPORTANT TO YOU.
Your support on this important matter is greatly appreciated and together we can express to Ms Gillard that her Support on Marriage Equality is a crutial part in Legalizing Same-Sex Marriage.
Support Marriage Equality
Dear Ms Gillard,
I am a resident of Wyndham who resides in the Lalor District, and believe Marriage Equality is a very important issue which needs to be addressed.
By denying Same-Sex Couples the choice to Marry the person they love, we are sending out a message that it is ok to discriminate on the ground of sexual orientation and gender, and that Same-Sex Couples are not Capable of the level of love and commitment associated with Marriage.
In our society Marriage is covered by civil law and not biblical values, for example we allow marriage between people of different faiths or no faiths. We also allow divorce, although some churches are against it. Using the religion argument against Same-Sex couples is a double standard.
Marriage provides health and well-being benefits including security for partners and children, where they are currently excluded.
Cival Unions are not as widely understood or respected as Marriage is, and creating a seperate name for Same-Sex relationships entrenches a different, discriminatory, second-class status for those relationships.
Only a Marriage Certificate gives instant and guaranteed access to relationship entitlements.
As many as 25% of Same-Sex Couples are raising children. By allowing parents in these families the right to Marry we are providing their children with the same rights, respect and recognition as other children.
We urge you Ms Gillard as our Local MP for LALOR to please take a stance on this important issue and Support Marriage Equality and give Same-Sex couples the opportunity to unite their Love in Marriage and no longer feel like second-class citizens and discriminated against any more.
