End the suffering of Australian kid Ali: bring his father home
0 have signed. Let’s get to 1,000!
We, the undersigned Australians, would like to ask your hon. in your capacity as Minister for Immigration and Border Protection to end the suffering of Australian child Ali Safwan and his family.
Ali was born to Australian citizen Ramia and her Lebanese husband Hassan Safwan on 24 August 2016. The couple married early 2014 and lodged an application for Hassan to migrate to Australia on spouse visa August 2014. Since then, the application was stalled and did not progress at all.
We understand that similar applications take less than 16 months to be finalised, as according to your department’s website. This application is taking double this time, and we have no indication when it will be finalised.
What concerns us most here is the wellbeing of an Australian citizen Ali Safwan. Because of your departments’ slow process of his father’s application, Ali lives a miserable life since the day he was born.
To spend some time with his father as a normal child, he is travelling constantly around the globe. The time he was deprived of his father’s care and love, he showed a lot of pain and anxiety. Currently, and after his mum brought him back to Australia, he lost 2 kgs and is still showing great anxiety and social withdrawal. He is crying constantly and asking about his father.
Australian citizen Ramia, mother of Ali and wife of Hassan, is living a desperate and miserable life. Ramia is unable to plan anything, as she needs to be on standby all the time to travel to see her husband and allow Ali to live some normal life with his father. The financial burden on the family is immense. Currently, the family cannot afford to buy basics: car, children toys, enough clothes and other basic needs. The family depends on the generosity of relatives and friends for emotional and financial help.
The suffering of this family has gone on for too long for no apparent reasons.
Please end the suffering of Ali and his family. We are afraid that the damage on this child could become irreparable if you do not take immediate actions!
