armando chico started this petition to HON. DIANA AYALA/NEW YORK CITY COUNCIL 8TH DISTRICT. and

In our community in the South Bronx on Jackson Avenue from 138th to Westchester DOT is currently changing that street from a two way traffic street with some parking in the local community  to a 1 way with no parking and a bike lane and delivery truck standing lanes. this current proposal cost the community150 parking spots with no outward remedy to this dilemma.

These changes cause many problems in our community:

1.  It takes 150 parking spots with no immediate remedy for the people that live               here.

2. longer parking seeking times for people in the community with farther distances         to walk if you do find parking.

EX. I've started the petition manually and one of the signees tells me of how she               spent over 2 hrs finding parking recently and it caused her alot of pain because         she had to park farther away and she had surgery in her leg and hip.

3.the change of the street direction has caused heavier than usual traffic in the              other streets like Cypress, St.Ann's, and 141st st. The back up of traffic also              causes people in the neighborhood to have to inhale more exhaust from the               traffic and in part of the borough with some of the highest raspatory #'s in the city      it's not helping.

it also effects you if work in our neighborhood or shop or even visit family or friends in our neighborhood. Yes it effects you 2.

I'm proposing either a reversal of the current plan or  the creation of alternative parking solutions for our community

I'm asking that you support our petition and help our community take the first step in standing up for ourselves. thank you.
