We, the parents and concerned citizens of Homewood, AL, wish to create a Basketball Board to oversee recreation and competitive basketball in city of Homewood to:

• promote increased interest in basketball among residents and participants
• grow participation 
• increase parental and community engagement
• create vertical integration with high school
• define competitive/OTM program objectives
• define competitive/OTM selection process
• standardize policy making by a vote of commissioners
• represent the best interests of the City of Homewood at OTM meetings

As it relates to competitive/OTM basketball, Homewood Parks and Recreation has long held the position that they are not involved in competitive sports; however HPR employees are solely responsible for all decisions related to competitive/OTM basketball. It is our belief that competitive basketball teams and decisions related to them should be made by current and former parents led by our High School's Varsity Coach. By doing so families interested in competitive basketball will have the opportunity to compete and develop to their maximum potential. 

Board makeup:

• comprised of current parents representing each age group M/F 2nd-6th grade and a past president (11 total)
• report to and be guided by current Men's and Women's coaches.
