Why this petition matters

Started by Anthony Brown

Phases 1 and 2 of Oxley Park, including the area around the Eco-Homes, have been completed and occupied for 10 years in some cases. The standard of the roads that serve these areas is very poor. In some places it is dangerous; causing hazards for cyclists and possible damage to vehicles. In May 2019 a hole in Holden Avenue was covered with a steel plate, which caused a huge amount of noise when driven over and disrupted residents’ enjoyment of their properties.

Whilst residents understand that there is still building work ongoing, Oxley Park is a residential area, not a building site, and the standard of the roads must be adequate for residents to move around  safely and enjoy their properties without major disruption. The undersigned residents therefore call on Homes England and the developers who have responsibility for these roads to:

1)      Ensure that roads currently unadopted by Milton Keynes council are maintained to a safe and passable standard. This means they should:

a.       Fill/repair major defects and potholes on a regular basis

b.       Cover any manholes with safe, secure and noise free coverings

2)      Junctions should be adequately signed and marked to avoid confusion and possible accidents. This is particularly true at:

a.       The junction of Holden Avenue and Sinatra Drive

b.       The junction of Holden Avenue, Milland Way and Murphy Road.

3)      Commit to bringing the roads up to adoptable standard as soon as possible, laying out a clear timetable for this process
