The current system ,in liaison with the French, as regards the prevention of illegal immigrants coming to the UK by small boats, is clearly failing, and the influx of these individuals is causing real human problems, not just to themselves, in risking the crossing, but to the pressure to resources on the mainland.

My idea will, I believe, limit to a large extent, if not eradicate , people attempting the crossing in the first place!

the UK Government should hire or lease a number of large passenger liners, which will be moored in our waters. All boats will be directed to a liner, and the passengers taken on board for screening and accommodation.Keeping individuals on board gives absolute control on movement, and prevents individuals from disappearing into the town's and cities, which currently happens.  Small unaccompanied children will of course be handled By Social Services on the mainland.

By retaining the vast majority on the ship, which in effect becomes their home, will stop the continuous movement of people within the UK mainland, and offers safe, secure and standard accommodation, until, or if a permanent solution can be found! People who evade the authorities and happen to land on our shores, will be escorted back to an appropriate ship!

Once people realise that embarking on such a journey is futile, as they will not be allowed into the UK as happens currently, then the amount of trafficking will certainly reduce, if not stop altogether!
