Jan 14, 2020 — We are delighted to announce that our dear friend Otis Bolamu has been granted refugee status and can stay with his community in Swansea. We want to thank everyone who signed this petition, the people of Swansea who took Otis to their hearts, Hay,Brecon & Talgarth Support for Refugees, the amazing legal team at Duncan Lewis Law. Special thanks also to Peter Florence, Director of the Hay Festival for his unstinting & generous support. We acknowledge & appreciate the actions of the Home Secretary & many other politicians who have ensured that justice has been done in this case.
Otis’s joy & relief are obvious in the picture. Here are his words to you.
"I just want to say thank you for the power of people. People were so kind campaigning for me to come out of detention & when I came back, they did not stop. They said we will not celebrate until he has refugee status. Now I have it. Now we can party!" #SafeRefugeForOtis #Swansea
