Tens of thousands of illegal migrants have arrived on UK shores in recent months, yet the government response seems minimal and lacking any urgency. The Home Secretary is barely visible and no-one seems to be holding her to account for addressing the issue. This petition seeks support in demanding to know what is being done immediately, what plan of action is in place - with timescales and who is leading each action. 

Whilst thousands enter the country illegally, often escorted by Border Force vessels, the same Home Office agency oversees unacceptably lengthy queues - recently up to 5 hours - at our airports, because of insufficient staff numbers. It is the Home Secretary's job, on behalf of the electorate, to run the department effectively and efficiently.

We have a right to know exactly what measures are in place (which are clearly not working given the many hundreds arriving daily), and what more is going to be done and when.

Furthermore, this petition calls on the government to explain to the voters what plans are in place for those arrivals proven to be economic migrants rather than genuine refugees. 

Every migrant drowning at sea between France and the UK could be prevented were there a robust response in place.
