Paulette Wilson has been a UK resident since 1968 - arriving from Jamaica when she was just 10 years old. She grew up here, her family is here, everything she knows is here. She has worked and paid her taxes here. She has contributed to our society.
Now the government is trying to deport her.
As part of a crackdown on illegal immigration the Home Office announced she has no legal right to stay in the UK and even placed her in a detention centre for a week.
Since 1968 she has remained in the UK, has never visited Jamaica and has made 34 years' of National Insurance payments. She also has a British daughter and grandchild.
Whatever your views on immigration, surely Paulette must be allowed to stay?
In her own words: “I am British. I’ve been raised here, all I know is Britain."
