CRPF jawan Manoj Tomar, the resident of Tarasama village in Murena district of Madhya Pradesh is living a bad life because of not getting the right treatment.
Manoj was seriously injured in the Naxalite encounter in the Ziram Valley of Chhattisgarh in March 2014. He was shot seven bullets. Though he survived but is living with pain. Manoj is forced to live with intestines out from his stomach. He wraps his intestines in polythene. He could be given a good treatment but Manoj cannot afford the expensive treatment.
Manoj has also lost his one eye. Doctors say that Manoj’s intestine can be kept in the stomach by operation and he can live a good life. He can also get his eyesight back. But, both the treatment are expensive and it needed 5 to 7 lakh rupees.
Manoj was posted in the city of Dornapal police station in Sukma district of Chhattisgarh on 11 March 2014. Only then Naxalite attacked and killed 11 soldiers. Only Manoj could survive the attack. Manoj told that he has been treated in Narayana Hospital, Raipur. In the event of serious injury, the operation of the intestine in the abdomen was not possible at that time, so some part of the intestine was left out. On the advice of the doctors, he went to Delhi’s AIIMS.
According to the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) rule, CRPF bears the cost of the treatment only when it is done in the contracted hospital, but the cost of treatment in any other hospital has to be borne by the soldier. That is why Manoj has the complaint to the government and its rules.
The rules say that they were injured during duty in Chhattisgarh, so they will be treated at Narayana Hospital in Raipur. In such a situation, only the government can arrange for the operation of intestines and operation of the eye in Chennai, which does not seem possible as the government is not showing any concern.
Also, assurance was received by the Home Minister of the country, Rajnath Singh. They were told to give assistance of 5 lakh rupees.
We as citizen of india must fight for the basic health facility a jawan deseves . These people protect us day and night but government is not showing any care towards there well being . It's our duty to raise voice so that jawan like him should never face a situation like this, the situation faced by CRPF jawan is pathetic .
He as a soldier of this nation must be respected rather than being humiliated by making him roam for his treatment.
We must demand a system where these kind situation shouldn't arise and demean the status of our jawan just because our government is incompetent in providing them.
What will we do if such situation occur to one of us? Don't you think it's our prime responsibility to speak for our jawans?
