Home for Borderline Name Sculptures at The Healing Garden at Conejo Creek North Park
Why this petition matters
After the mass shooting at the Borderline Bar and Grill in Thousand Oaks, CA in November 7, 2018, local artist "Ali” Alinejad made name sculptures in honor, remembrance and with approval of each of the family's victim. It has been displayed informally at friend's front lawns, informal BL memorial at the Borderline Bar and Grill, Performance Arts Center in Thousand Oaks and currently a few in front of the Tarantula Hill Brewing Co.
For the past few years similarly, the displaced Borderline Dance community also wandered from place to place and danced on parking lots, friend's streets, other bars, dirt lots, barns, etc. until a more permanent BL Dancehall and Saloon in Agoura Hills was found. It's time to also find a permanent home for the sculptures. The Healing Garden dedicated to the Borderline victims at Conejo Creek North Park is the most logical choice.
Survivors, friends, families and the community would wish to find a permanent home for 12 name sculptures and further the healing process at the Healing Garden.
Please join me in signing the petition for Thousand Oaks Cultural Affairs Commission, City of Thousand Oaks and Conejo Recreation Park District to allow a permanent art installations of the 12 name sculptures at the Healing Garden.
It's time to find "Our Home".
