At some point during the week of August 8, 2021, the graves located at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Cemetery in Beasley, Texas were cleared without prior notification to the families.  Crosses, angels, lights, flowers, statues, and other special mementos were not only removed, but THROWN AWAY at the direction of Father Orrin Halepeska.  Families became aware of this blatant disrespect when pictures were posted on Facebook of the cleared gravesites (or when they first visited the cemetery after the "cleaning").  Families were extremely upset, hurt, and angry that they had not been given the opportunity to remove the belongings prior to this "cleaning".  A week later, Father Halepeska issued an "apology" on Facebook for not communicating with the families.  A suggestion was made (in reply to his Facebook "apology") that only safety issues be addressed at this time and to ask for input from the families before making additional changes.  This suggestion was deleted and completely ignored (not even acknowledged).  There is now a new sign telling families that new guidelines will be published this month.

No regard has been given to the families of the deceased who are buried here.

No contracts or guidelines were given at the time of my daughter's burial.  We asked and were granted permission prior to making any additions to her site or before placing the first item.  Creating and retroactively enforcing guidelines on grieving families without the decency of notifying them was thoughtless.  Continuing to enforce these (as yet unpublished) guidelines even after realizing the extreme hurt created by those careless actions feels intentionally cruel.

Non-glass items, lights, flower gardens, etc do not pose a safety risk and should be allowed to remain.  This small act would allow us, those who have been left to grieve our family members, to find a little peace as we visit their gravesites.

PLEASE LEAVE THE FINAL RESTING PLACE OF OUR LOVED ONES ALONE!!!
