Make Hollywood Listen! Disabilities are no costume.

For far too long,

Disabilities have had little to no representation in film. When the world's largest minority is included, it is portrayed by NON-DISABLED actors instead of actually disabled actors playing a character with a disability. Some films however, do get it right. Pixar's Finding Nemo and Dory include the representation of not one, but two characters with a disability. One, Nemo has a "Lucky Fin", this could be representing Cerebral Palsy. Nemo is born with his disability after a barracuda cracks his eeg. Dory, on the other hand, has a mental disability. In 2014's Me Before You, a non-disabled actor plays a disabled man who wants to be dead instead of living. He commits assisted suicide. This is unacceptable. No person I know with a disability wishes death over life. All I am asking, as a young man with Cerebral Palsy, is to get the story accurate and give us the representation we deserve.
