Hollywood Burbank Airport Authority to send letter to FAA regarding increased noise

Since the Spring of 2017, residents of Burbank and nearby communities have experienced negative impacts from NextGen at Hollywood Burbank Airport.  Beginning in March 2017, when the new aircraft guidance system rolled out as part of the FAA’s NextGen program, we have experienced increased noise on departing flights, lower altitudes and new flight patterns.  We have reviewed the Quarterly Noise Reports from the airport, and the numbers back up what we are experiencing, a drastic increase in noise.

These changes are having a negative impact on our quality of life. “Be a good neighbor” is one of the main points of the airport's credo, and we are looking to the airport authority commissioners to take this motto to heart and to do what's right by their neighbors.

Burbank for Quiet Skies is part of a nationwide movement addressing the negative impacts from NextGen. There is precedent for airport authorities and city councils to take action to protect the quality of life of its neighbors and communities.  Recently, Newport reached a settlement with the FAA to adjust departure paths, Phoenix won its lawsuit against the FAA and the new, post-NextGen flight paths. Officials at LAX have been very responsive to their Los Angeles neighbors and the surrounding communities.  Burbank for Quiet Skies looks forward to working together with the Airport Authority to find solutions.

We request that you write a letter to the FAA, sharing our concerns and working to develop solutions to the negative impacts that Studio City, North Hollywood, and Burbank neighbors are experiencing.
