Clean Air started this petition to town of Holly Springs

Make the pledge to reduce idling!

In your driveway, at the bank, in the school carpool lines, at our library, and in our town parks: #turnitoff in park!

Why? The quality of our air in Holly Springs is influenced primarily by vehicular emissions and construction. The exhaust released while idling emits toxic chemicals that we breathe in: particulate matter, climate warming chemicals like carbon dioxide and nitrous oxides responsible for the build up of smog. All of this while getting ZERO mpg. It's toxic and a waste of money and natural resources!

The health impacts from these pollutants can range from a simple nuisance cough to life threatening conditions. Particulate matter is small enough to enter our blood stream through our lungs and has been linked to increased rates of heart disease, stroke, cancer and can cause low birth weights. Smog leads to increased rates of asthma, respiratory infections and has even been shown to increase the likelihood of severe illness or death from Covid. Communities in close proximity to busy highways are at an increased risk of ill health effects and we will soon have two highways traversing Holly Springs: Hwy 55 and Hwy 540.

Help to protect you and your family, your friends and neighbors by pledging to reduce idling in your everyday life. Save yourself money, protect wear-n-tear on your car's engine. Sign the Pledge, Share the Pledge, Live the Pledge.
