Holiday Inn: Let pets inside during Hurricane Harvey recovery & ALL future disaster relief

As the mom of a cat, I could never imagine being separated from my furbaby during a hurricane. That's why I was shocked to learn that Holiday Inn refuses to allow pets to stay in their rooms with their families while Houston is completely under water.
Due to Hurricane Harvey, the Parker family evacuated from their New Territory, TX home with their three rescued dogs: Arrow (shepherd lab mix), Wiggum (chocolate lab hound mix), and Buttercup (yellow lab).
After a treacherous trip to the Holiday Inn Express in Katy TX, the family was informed by hotel management that the three dogs would not be allowed to stay in the hotel room with their human family members. With no other options accessible, the dogs were forced to stay in the family's Prius outside in the Holiday Inn's parking lot during the terrifying hurricane. The Parker family took turns staying with the dogs in the car at all times, even overnight.
Gillian Parker explained: “It’s pouring rain. You’re soaked to the bone just getting there, and walking them is even worse. The rain felt like needles in your face. And you end up shivering in the car. It’s just…I’m just chagrined, irritated, cold, wet, tired, and exhausted. It’s ridiculous and outrageous. This is an 800-year flood. Three exits down the highway, the national guard is pulling people out of their houses. And our dogs can’t come in to safety?”
Finally, after three days, the Parker family and their three dogs were able to find temporary indoor housing for ALL of them. This is unacceptable. Pets are family, and Holiday Inn should be doing all they can to protect ALL guests -- two legged and four legged -- during this extremely difficult time. We want to see Holiday Inn change their policy to require ALL of their hotels to accept pets during Hurricane Harvey recovery and during ALL future emergency disaster relief situations. Sign the petition to tell Holiday Inn to have a heart and allow pets in their hotels!
